About

About me

I am an enthusiastic engineer in the renewable energy industry with over 20 years of experience in technical and leadership roles.

A grizzled veteran of the renewable energy industry

I began my career at the dawn of the modern Electric Vehicle (EV) industry renaissance in the late 1990s and early 2000s, developing EVs with hydrogen fuel cells and the first lithium-ion-based batteries for automobiles. This is the same technology that all modern EVs and battery energy storage systems are based on today. I shifted to utility-scale renewable energy in 2005 and have been in the Wind, Solar, and Energy Storage industries my whole career.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Oregon Tech – a degree closely related to mechanical engineering with a focus on design efficiency, economics, and social impacts.

I have touched every corner of the renewable energy industry, from off-grid solar to supporting the world’s largest wind and solar sites, from greasing turbines and running operational sites to helping international banks evaluate investments and leading engineering teams.
